Big Beaver to Regina: Labour Day Party.
August 31.

5:20am is too early for any human to have to be awake.  But I had to tie up a few loose ends with packing before dad drove me to meet Travis and Kellen at the Harptree grid just south of Bengough.  I said goodbye to pa and then Travis and I had an awesome visit all the way to Regina.  It is very nice to be around him.

In Bengough at 7:30am, my phone rang.  It was Bean who just got off work and was telling me to hurry up and get to Regina.  He did not want to go to bed and said we were going to drink beer all day.  When Travis and I pulled up to Bean’s house, he was washing a 1971 Chrysler New Yorker sitting on the street that does not run.  Travis headed off and then I made Bean go to bed for a couple of hours.

I bought 18 beer, cleaned Bean’s shop and people started to show up for our Labour Day Party.   We hung out to party in the New Yorker sitting on the street for a couple of hours. We drank beer on the lawn in the sun and after the Labour Day Classic football game, more and more friends showed up for our Labour Day Party.  It was just an awesome day of getting smashed with old old friends.  I said a lot of things that I probably should not have, and did not say enough of the things that I probably should have.  But, that is how it is when you are partying with old friends.  It was a night of short catch-ups with a lot of important people in my life.

Samchyk thought that the rest of the world viewed Canadians as tough.  Fiona and I told him that the rest of the world thinks we are nice people.  So, Samchyk thinks that we need to make sure that the rest of the world thinks Saskatchewan is tough.  He smashed a piece of pizza to try to prove his point and got pizza sauce all over my jeans.  There were quite a few lesbians at the party and that is stressing Samchyk because it takes away from our tough image.  Dan is a painter and I am a writer, which are very artsy things to do and Samchyk thinks we can not afford to have gay people around at our own artistic image risk to our tough guy images!

The Labour Day Party finished at 4am.  Being home has been so great…  It sure is nice to be around the old crew…
