“Leaving Pintang, it was crazy to see as there were skyscraper city sections in this 300,000 person population town. I am not talking about a section of five or six skyscrapers that were completed which were empty shells...I am talking about sections of 80 or 100 skyscrapers...all empty...in an empty section of the city. There were so many empty skyscrapers with empty streets and no traffic at all in the sections as we drove past. The number of skyscraper flats would give any American city other than New York a run for it’s money. And this was a 300,000 person meaningless Chinese city that is on an island where ferries port and required a 5 km bridge to the mainland. That particular meaningless town has a major section of skyscrapers... Then on the 2.5 hour drive from Pintang to Quanzhou, the highways were lined for nearly the entire time with brand new flats of houses and sometimes skyscrapers, all completely empty. The flats of houses were ultra modern and I do not remember seeing anything like them when I was here in 2006. Things in China have really developed in this past decade...

It looks like China is waiting for a massive population movement or a boom. Or it looks like the remnants of a horror movie. It is just crazy and strange...2.5 hours of driving past flats of empty shell houses.
