Region of Fort McMurray, Alberta

It is 01:12 and I am completely alone at the site in the middle of the forest. No one is around for about an hour of driving. There is very little light here. It is completely black outside except for a bulb on the side of the trailer. I just went outside to pee and I heard a noise. Of course my mind thought it was a the howl of a wolf and I nearly crapped my pants. I had not started peeing yet, but I did not even put my wiener away as I ran for the door of the trailer, dove inside and slammed the door behind me. I caught my breath and calmed down. But, I realized I still had to pee, so I cautiously ventured back out and dashed into the pick-up truck through the passenger door, which was the door closest to the trailer door. I climbed over everything, got into the driver’s seat and drove off to an open area where I could see in all directions before I got out again to pee. And even then I did it from the step-bars of the truck. Wolves are scary! Humans never get killed by wolves, but horror movies sure have done a number on the mass population. Even if one never hears of wolves killing man today, one does not want to risk being the first stat around here in many years. So, it is edgy, even if it may have just been a squeaky trailer door that I heard which sent me into this frenzy of fear in the first place…
