Asunción: Cold Starve Works, But Wow it Sucks
Asunción: Cold Starve Works, But Wow it Sucks.
When you do not drink liquid or eat food for 30 hours it really does terrible things to you. I could not sleep very well at all. I had been tossing and turning and I am sure everyone in the dorm stayed awake because of my mental battle to kill a cold with a Cold Starve. I was so thirsty, and my stomach ached. I actually peed in the middle of the night, and I am not sure where I had been storing that liquid. Finally at 6am, it had been 30 hours since I had taken in any food or liquid for the Cold Starve, aside from the shot of Jim Bean, so I got up to hit the water. I think the lines in my face were actually clearer from to dehydration. When I got the bottle of water, I drank about one litre in one go to replenish the resources. Water was awesome… I went back to bed to sleep a little more while my body re-hydrated and so that I would hopefully feel better when I got up. I slept soundly for another couple of hours.
I killed it. I starved a cold. I was dried up when I woke up and my sneezing was gone. One can really kill a cold though starvation. A Cold Starve sure is terrible to do though.
It was a slow day, but Irmante and I went out to eat well, as food was a real treat for me.
Irmante – “Oh that restaurant has those German things, what are they called?”
Beaver – “Bratwurst?”
Irmante – “No.”
Beaver – “Gas chambers?”
Irmante – “No.”
We bought bus tickets to Montevideo, Uruguay for tomorrow. $140 for the ticket for a 23 hour bus! F! We need to get out of Paraguay. We need excitement in our lives. It was about 42 degrees in Asunción during the heat of the day today, scorching us. I like the heat and I can handle it, but this was uncomfortable to be in the hot city today.
We talked a hotel doorman into taking us to the top floor to overlook the city, and we came back to the hostel to relax and hide from the sun. I have drunk a lot lot of water today, but I was still peeing very yellow from that little dehydration trick, even at 9pm. Rockero, the rock bar in town that was playing 1990’s videos and it was a blast, but female DJ’s play a ton of women rock.
